Governmental Affairs Committee
GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS CHAIR
- Primary Purpose: The Chair oversees and directs activities of the Governmental Affairs Committee (GAC) whose purpose is to monitor pending state and national legislation that impact nursing and healthcare. The Chair and committee seek to inform and educate FLASPAN members about the legislative process and the importance of individual and collective participation in the system.
- Prerequisites: Minimum of one-year active membership in FLASPAN
Appointment: Appointed by FLASPAN President, approved by the Board of Directors
- Term of Service: One year; may be reappointed for consecutive terms
- Voting BOD Member: No
- Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor state nursing organizations for pertinent information and report to FLASPAN BOD at meetings
- Attend the Quality and Unity in Nursing Council (QUIN) meetings as a FLASPAN representative and report information back to FLASPAN Board of Directors
- Keep FLASPAN membership informed of pertinent issues
- Consider attending Nurse Internship in Washington (NIWI)
